DAVID WILSON HOMES DRIVES FUNDRAISING FOR LITTLEHAMPTON COMMUNITY FRIDGE

Fundraising to keep a refrigerated delivery van on the road for the Littlehampton Community Fridge has been supported with a £500 donation from David Wilson Homes this month. The housebuilder, who is currently building its Ecclesden Park development in nearby Angmering, has pushed fundraising up to the halfway mark to keep the van running during the festive period.

The Littlehampton Community Fridge donates surplus food supplies to residents in need, with the van being a vital part of its operations. The organisation aims to reduce food waste by providing excess food to individuals and families that are struggling to make ends meet this Christmas, and the van is used regularly to pick up some of the donations from supermarkets. In addition, the van takes food to Angmering, Rustington and East Preston as part of its ‘Fridge on Tour’ initiative.

Kimberley Benson, Sales and Marketing Director for David Wilson Southern Counties, comments: “We believe the Community Fridge is a great way of reducing waste while supporting families who need a bit of help during this expensive time of the year. We are really pleased to help cover the costs of the refrigerated van this Christmas, which we hope will go some way to helping keep the much-needed service on the road.”

Sarah Renfrey from Littlehampton Community Fridge comments: “We are expecting to be incredibly busy over the festive period, especially with the prices of many key ingredients for Christmas dinners having risen significantly, almost as much as 25%. The van is very important to us as it is crucial to helping us pick up and deliver food to those who need our services. We thank David Wilson Southern Counties for its generous contribution towards keeping our van on the road over Christmas.”
