EISA Announces Next ‘Ready, Steady Grow!’ Event in Bristol on 28th September

The Enterprise Investment Scheme Association (EISA) is excited to announce their next “Ready, Steady Grow!” event after Cardiff, which will take place in Bristol on September 28th at KPMG, 66 Queen Square. The event is free to attend and will provide an opportunity for small businesses to connect with investors and advisers and hear how the EIS can help them secure investment into their businesses.

The “Ready, Steady Grow!” events offer founders, investors, and advisers the chance to deepen their understanding of the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS), and Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS), created by the UK government to encourage investment into start-ups. The events aim to support entrepreneurs across the UK’s regions and devolved nations, ensuring they have the necessary information to secure vital investment which will allow them to grow and scale their businesses.

Albotherm, a high-tech glass coatings firm whose co-founder is speaking at the Bristol event, are one of the many start-ups who have secured investment through the schemes. Their co-founder, Dr. Sian Fussell, explained “Albotherm has raised two investment rounds and has used the S/EIS relief schemes for both. We have found the schemes really helped encourage investment in high-tech companies like ours. As we are pre-revenue, it is tricky to raise investment from institutional funds, the S/EIS make a huge difference when pitching to angel investors who we have raised over £1.3 M from.”

“Ready, Steady Grow!” events consist of two parts: a technical session and a networking reception. During the technical session, expert speakers provide insights into investment trends and share entrepreneurial success stories. The networking reception offers participants the opportunity to connect with experienced investors, industry experts, and entrepreneurs, creating avenues for new investment and facilitating invaluable connections.

Christiana Stewart-Lockhart, Director General of EISA commented, “Our ‘Ready, Steady Grow!’ event in Bristol offers a CPD qualifying seminar, networking opportunities, and information about how SMEs like Albotherm can benefit from the EIS and SEIS. The last two events, in Edinburgh and Birmingham, were incredibly well received and the EISA wants to invite entrepreneurs, advisers and investors in Bristol to join us on the 28th.”

The EISA looks forward to welcoming entrepreneurs looking to start a business or access investment; wealth managers seeking knowledge and expertise; investors looking to learn more about the S/EIS; and professional advisors looking to assist SMEs in their development and growth.

The creation of these EISA events, supporting entrepreneurs across the UK was triggered by HMRC data showing that there are fewer entrepreneurs outside of London benefitting from investment from the SEIS and EIS. These schemes are key to ensuring thriving entrepreneurship and innovation across the whole of the UK and the EISA are hosting free educational events to increase the number of founders using the schemes to secure investment. By providing resources, networking, and events around the country, the EISA aims to fill these opportunity gaps and further drive economic growth nationwide.

Sponsors of EISA’s Ready Steady Grow! Bristol include the British Business Bank, Charles Stanley, Committed Capital, Foresight Group, IFA Magazine, KPMG, Mercia Asset Management, Michelmores, and Octopus Ventures.
