FAMILY HOME RECREATED IN AMAZING 1:20 SCALE AT LEGOLAND® WINDSOR RESORT

The Molloy family poses with their beloved family home built in LEGO® brick and mortar, with some of London's iconic landmarks in the background. Mum, Áine Molloy (40), Dad Jarlarth Molloy (41) and Sons Fionn (9), Darragh (4), and Oisín (9 months) captured a family photo to mark the once in a lifetime opportunity to have their family home immortalised in the iconic Miniland. LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort launched the unique competition with online estate agents Purple Bricks to celebrate the opening of the new brick building experience The Brick, open now.

A family of five from Southampton visited LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort to see an amazing replica of their home after it was unveiled in one of the UK’s most exclusive postcodes, LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort’s iconic Miniland.

Primary school teacher, Áine Molloy (40), was joined by husband Jarlath (41) and her three sons Fionn (9), Darragh (4), and Oisín (9 months) to celebrate their new bricktastic home built by expert Model Makers using a whopping 13,623 LEGO® bricks.

The detached home complete with a LEGO brick car and even a miniature version of The Molloy family themselves was built on a 110cm x 100cm plot originally listed by online estate agents, Purplebricks, as part of a national competition to celebrate the Resort’s new attraction, The Brick.

Standing at 37cm tall with incredible views of iconic buildings such as the Eiffel Tower and the Sacre Coeur, the build is extra special for Áine and her family. Following a challenging time being separated from their family due to the pandemic, the Molloys are considering moving house to be closer to loved ones. Knowing that their first family home will live forever at LEGOLAND is a real comfort to the Molloys, who have lived in the house for seven years.

Áine said: “The boys are massive fans of LEGO and were thrilled when we told them we had won the competition. Fionn loves the Eiffel Tower, which he visited during a trip to Paris, so he can’t believe his home is built right next door.

“Our first family home holds such special memories for our family. Many of our big life moments, like our children coming back from being born and their first days at school have been marked with a photograph in front of the red front door so to see this replicated in LEGO bricks is really moving for me.”

The Molloy family home was chosen from over 1,000 entries to the competition which ran earlier this year after the Resort’s Model Maker team asked families to share a photo of their home along with a description of why it should become an amazing LEGO creation. Their entry blew the judges away as their love for both LEGO and their home was evident.

Paula Laughton, Head Model Maker at LEGOLAND Windsor Resort, said: “We really enjoyed building the Molloy’s family home here in Miniland. Their house is beautiful and has some amazing defining features like its big bay windows and striking red front door that made it fun to build. We hope that the whole family loves seeing their home come to life here at the Resort and that they will bring all their family from Ireland over to see it too!”

The Brick attraction is now open and is filled with hundreds of thousands of LEGO bricks for aspiring Model Makers to create and build together. The experience is located next to Miniland and allows kids and their parents to immerse themselves in a world of play while letting their imaginations run wild to share in building dream-like masterpieces together.

Purplebricks Managing Director, Tom Greenacre, comments: “Owning a property in Miniland is a once in a lifetime opportunity, so we were thrilled to bring this plot to market. We’re delighted to see the Molloy’s family home built in Miniland, and I’m sure people will be lining up around the block to come and see this amazing new build. The house is located in a very prestigious location, and is just a short stroll away from some of the world’s most iconic landmarks.”

Day tickets start from £29 per person, kids under 90cm go free. Make a weekend of it by booking an overnight stay at the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort Hotel or the LEGOLAND Castle Hotel with prices starting from £341* for a family of four. To book visit www.legoland.co.uk
