FANCY A CUPPA?: NEW STUDY REVEALS THE NATION’S FAVOURITE TEA

What do Brits do during a crisis? Put the kettle on of course, and now so more than ever with more of us at home than before looking for comfort in a brew, but which tea does your hometown prefer?

The new research from Harvey Water Softeners analysed the amount of searches for the most popular types of tea across the fifty largest cities by population in the UK, specifically looking at the last two months during lockdown.

With over 40,500 average monthly searches for this period, Yorkshire Tea is well above the second favourite Green tea, with an average of 27,100 searches per month. Searches for Yorkshire Tea have increased nearly fourfold during lockdown, with just 14,000 searches for the whole of the UK pre-COVID-19.

The research also broke down the data by city to find out which have been drinking tea the most during lockdown, with Newcastle surprisingly the only place in the UK where Earl Grey appeared in the top three. The full list can be seen below:

It seems Bristol has a taste for the finer things, with the high-end Pukka teas making an appearance as their top searched tea, while Derby prefers to relax with a Turkish tea.

Yorkshire Gold, the special tea brewed specifically for hard water made an appearance in the top 3 for both hard water areas, Poole and Swansea.
