Harry Kane’s former coach has paid tribute to the England captain and recalled how as a teenager he had a thirst for learning and improving his game.

On being thanked in Harry’s acceptance speech, Bradley told GB News: “That was brilliant. That was a lovely touch from Harry, sort of mentioning so many of the coaches, player developers across his footballing journey, and for him to remember us and in that acceptance speech where he spoke so eloquently, that was a lovely touch.

“He mentioned about coming in to Tottenham Hotspur at 11, having been sort of rejected by other clubs, and I first got to work with him, under 14, and then for a second season, under 15. I’ve been asked this question, many a time in terms of: what was he like then?

“The potential that us as coaches could see in any young player, and he wasn’t he wasn’t a podium player amongst his peers, but he had a thirst for practice, for learning, improving.

“He would pester me. I was a little bit younger back in those days, and I could still strike a ball or two myself and do some demos, and we would go out with a bag of footballs and do extra finishing, and just some of those small things,I hope he’s carried on and took with him through his career.

“You mentioned his loans. It wasn’t until his early 20s where he broke into Tottenham’s first team under Maurizio Pochettino, and then he never looked back.”

He added: “He scored a good few more goals than me. You know, 91 plus and counting for England. The last 12 to 18 months, the numbers of goals and assists – you know, just extraordinary…breaking the greatest goal scorer’s record ever.”
