Hounslow Warm Space receives donation from Annington during cost-of-living crisis

Annington, the company responsible for refurbishing former MOD homes on Cavalry Green in the newly regenerated borough of Hounslow, has donated to the Warm Space at Hope Church Hounslow. The donation will help the church to stay open to local residents that are struggling to heat their homes, offering a free, warm and welcoming place to go.
According to research from End Fuel Poverty, an estimated 8.6 million households in the UK will be in fuel poverty from April 2023,[1] and with energy bills at an all-time high, Warm Spaces such as Hope Church Hounslow are proving to be a vital service for many. The Church is located on Bath Road and provides a non-judgemental space for the local community to use, and is run by staff and volunteers. The funds donated by Annington will assist with paying the church’s own energy bills and the purchasing of tea, coffee and snacks for visitors.
Sue Wood, Community Development Lead at Hope Church Hounslow, commented: “It’s so important to provide a place for the most vulnerable in society, including young families and the elderly, to stay safe and warm. Since the beginning of the colder winter months, we’ve seen a huge increase in visitors to our Warm Space, many of whom cannot keep up with rising energy costs. The donation from Annington will enable us to continue to operate our essential Warm Space service, offering a safe place for anyone in Hounslow to come in, have a chat and enjoy a cup of tea in a friendly environment.”
Stacy Whitehead, Marketing Manager at Annington, added: “While the rising energy costs are a year-round issue, in the winter months, many households are falling behind on their energy repayments, or making the heartbreaking choice between heating and eating. Nobody should have to make that decision, which is why we are supporting Warm Spaces across the country, including in Hounslow, and we hope our contribution goes some way to helping the most vulnerable in the local community.”
