Housebuilder Helps Kent Children Move Forward with Charity Donation

Barratt Homes has recently donated £1,000 to Strood charity Step and Learn, a charity that provides physical and emotional support to young children with motor disorders. The housebuilder made the donation as part of its Community Fund initiative, which sees Barratt Kent reinvest in local communities across the county.

Step and Learn is dedicated to improving both the physical and educational needs of young children with cerebral palsy and other motor disorders through conductive education and play. Barratt Kent’s donation will help the charity’s trained practitioners to continue to provide dedicated workshops for disabled children to improve their motor, cognitive, social and communication skills, alongside training parents to independently support their children at home.

Natalie Perry, Sales and Marketing Director for Barratt Kent, commented: “As a family housebuilder, we know at times extra help is needed for families and children, and Step and Learn does exactly that. The charity’s core ethos is about creating a safe environment for teaching young children with motor disorders the skills they need to navigate the world, as well as providing assistance for the rest of the family. We are proud to play a role in making it possible for the charity to improve the lives of even more children with motor disorders.”

Rod Black, chairman at Step and Learn, added: “Step and Learn provides necessary aid for young children struggling with motor disorders by helping them to learn the skills they need to succeed. We would like to thank Barratt Kent for its generous donation. The money will be used to support the running costs of the charity in 2022, allowing us to assist more children and families who need our help.”

One of the families supported by Step and Learn added: “Conductive Education has been amazing for our little boy. The progress he has made in the few short months that he has been attending is outstanding and is making such a huge difference to his development. He loves his sessions with the Conductors who do a brilliant job.”
