Inspirational new book “Bullet Proof Woman“ by Paula Morelos Zaragoza just released
In a country that is currently experiencing 78 murders per day from armed gangs in the streets, there are few places where life is an uncertain as it is in Mexico. When there are no guarantees that you will still be alive tomorrow, it does make you focus on those things that are really important – like family and community.
Paula Morelos Zaragoza was born in Mexico and is living proof that it is not life’s knocks and uncertainties that define you, but how you cope with them. In the early seventies, Paula went through a challenging childhood living in a one-parent family with no economic resources. Later, on her journey, she dealt with mental illness, the loss of a child, bankruptcy, raising three kids by herself, and dealing with her youngest daughter´s Down Syndrome. Enough the crush the spirit in most people. But Paula is different to most people. Very different. This is why she was named by a client of hers as The Bullet Proof Woman, for her ability to find a way through whatever life has thrown at her, and to triumph in the end.
“It would have been easy to moan or complain about those times when we were struggling with money, or with health issues, but I have come to learn that everything that happened to me was, in fact, a blessing. All my experiences have helped me to understand what other people have gone through and have given me the knowledge to help those in similar circumstances. I have learned that my mission is now to inspire and motivate women.”
Her new book “Bullet Proof Woman” will certainly do that. It has already been published in Spanish and Turkish and the new English edition, published by Filament Publishing Ltd in London, has just been released.
Say Paula “When going through challenges of any sort, the first thought that people has is to look for solutions from others. Who is going to come and help me? What I have learned is to look for solutions from inside myself first. You need to ask yourself the right questions to find out who you really are, what you really want; where do you want to go; and what’s your purpose in life? Once you know yourself, you can better discover the right solutions to your immediate needs. Sometimes it is not the problem that is the problem, but what you think about the problem, that is the problem.”
Paula didn’t set out to be a speaker. She started sharing her story online with videos on YouTube and through her podcast, also named Bullet Proof Woman. It was her simple message and her philosophy on life that attracted a growing following from women who were inspired by what she had to say. As a result, she was invited to speak to small groups at first, and the word spread fast. She is now invited to be the keynote speaker at big events worldwide. She is well-known in Turkey and across the Spanish-speaking world. Her new book in English will make her into a global figure.
“All of us are influenced by all the limiting beliefs that have been told to us from our childhood by people who should have known better. And in my case, I was the wife of this sick man, I was the mother of a special kid. I was this person who lost everything on the way, and everyone felt sorry for me. I was not considered as anyone outstanding. Far from it. My biggest achievement was staying alive and surviving. I so needed help, but the universe seemed deaf to my pleas. I now know that all of my bad experiences actually a blessing and were equipping me to help others on that same journey.”
“As I worked increasingly with women from all walks of life, I was moved by their stories and experiences, and felt drawn to help them. I had a purpose for the first time in 49 years, and I needed to help them find theirs.”
Paula is a born communicator and passionate about the female gender to whom she has dedicated most of her professional work, helping women to discover that we are all called to greatness and to rediscover the colours of life.
“I know you know the truth makes you free.” Says Paula “At the beginning, I just wanted to tell my truth and stop hiding, hiding because for so many years I was so ashamed of my life. I was so ashamed that my husband who was a successful businessman, was in a mental institution. I was so ashamed to have a special kid, I was so ashamed to lose all my money and be broke and ask people to help me to buy eggs. I have been so for so ashamed for so long. When I decided to tell my truth,
I needed help. Fortunately, I had a very valuable mentor.
I believe that everyone needs a mentor. Someone who can see your situation from the outside and be able to lend you another pair of eyes to see yourself. My mentor helped encourage me to tell my truth. And I began by sharing it as a podcast.
One morning I had the courage to record my first episode on my cell phone using a simple app. I recorded who I was, and I said, I don’t know, if one person is going to listen to this, or 1 million, it didn’t matter. I need to speak my truth. So that’s how I began. Amazingly, many people began to join me. And when they listen to my story, they said, that they now had the courage to be able to talk about their story, which is not very different.
So, my podcast began to be a safe place where women came to tell their truth in the form of stories. I started to see that there were a lot of women like me, and I was not alone.”
