INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY LECTURERS SECURE FIRST CLASS HOME IN CAMBRIDGE

An international couple have set down their roots at David Wilson Homes’ Cambridge development, Darwin Green, after needing to upsize since having a child.

Dr Brittany Schorn (37), a lecturer at University of Oxford, and Dr Rory Naismith (39), a lecturer at University of Cambridge, recently moved with their four year old daughter, Yseult. The family moved into a new four bedroom detached Thorney style home at the Huntingdon Road development.

Brittany, who is from Dallas, Texas, and Rory, who is from Edinburgh, were previously renting a flat in central Cambridgeshire. The couple decided it was time to step on to the property ladder and upsize to a bigger home following the birth of their daughter.

Brittany said: “We planned to start a family and start saving for our own home following the completion of our post-graduate degrees. With a small child, it was important to us to choose a property that would not need significant work done, which is why we went with a new build home.

“We also find the layout of new builds more suited to family life, for example having an open-plan ground floor room where we can cook dinner together and watch over our daughter while she plays.

“One of the main reasons we chose to live at Darwin Green was due to its location. It is an easy and pleasant walk into the University, and it has easy access to the motorway out of Cambridge.”

Darwin Green is located a 1.6 mile walk away from the centre of the historic university city. Residents can also gain quick and easy access into Cambridge with cycle and pedestrian friendly routes to and from the development.

The development also has great commuter links for working professionals, including the ability to reach London Kings Cross from Cambridge by train in under an hour.

Brittany added: “There are many nice places nearby to walk with our toddler, as well as convenient shops and schools. There is a real community feel here, our neighbours are very friendly and helpful.”

Will Phair, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes Cambridgeshire, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Brittany, Rory and Yseult to the growing community here at Darwin Green.

“It is great to hear that they are now settled into their new home, and are enjoying exploring the local area.”

Darwin Green will feature a wide range of fantastic amenities including its very own central park which will feature 15 acres of open space, and high quality sport pitches.

The development has helped to invest over £36.5m into Cambridge, such as providing funding towards, education, highways, infrastructure and public transport, as well as towards community and sports facilities.
