Jacob Collier Celebrates 10 Years Of His Debut Album In My Room With Deluxe Anniversary Edition
July 1, 2026 marks ten years since the release of In My Room, the debut album that followed Jacob Collier’s breakthrough YouTube success and marked the beginning of one of contemporary music’s most distinctive careers.
To mark the anniversary, Fontana/Hajanga will release a special deluxe edition of the album exactly ten years to the day after its original release, featuring the original record alongside previously unreleased recordings, demos, voice memos, live performances, newly recorded material and archival treasures from the formative years of his career. Available as a deluxe 2LP zoetrope designed vinyl edition and across digital platforms from July 1st, the collection offers an intimate glimpse into the creative world that first captivated audiences around the globe.
Recorded, arranged, performed and produced entirely by Collier in the music room of his North London family home, In My Room arrived shortly after the viral YouTube videos that first brought him international attention and introduced him to legendary producer Quincy Jones, who famously declared: “I have never in my life seen a talent like this. Absolutely mind-blowing.”
Upon its release, In My Room introduced a wider audience to Collier’s singular approach to songwriting, arrangement and production, showcasing a self-contained musical world in which he performed and recorded every part himself. The album earned Collier his first two GRAMMY® Awards, with “Flintstones” winning Best Arrangement, Instruments and Vocals and “You & I” taking home Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella. Jazzwise magazine wrote that “no amount of repetition will dim the eclectic brilliance of In My Room,” while The Guardian concluded that “what he does next with all this talent is a fascinating prospect.”
The anniversary edition’s second disc gathers rare recordings spanning the In My Room era and beyond, including a newly recorded piano interpretation of the album’s title track, early interpretations of standards such as “But Not For Me” and “Georgia On My Mind”, a previously unheard 3:30am voice memo capturing the earliest seeds of “Hideaway”, and a newly created version of “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes” that sees Collier duetting with a recording of his thirteen-year-old self. The collection also includes a live recording of “In The Real Early Morning” from the Quincy Jones BBC Prom at the Royal Albert Hall in 2016 – a landmark moment from the year that In My Room introduced Collier to audiences around the world.
Jacob Collier says:
“Exactly ten years have passed since I first released In My Room to the world – eleven songs that changed my life forever. In celebration, this 10-year anniversary release contains twelve previously unreleased songs, seeds and recordings from 2013-2017. These little recordings were my building blocks as a young artist – my very first experimental sketches of worlds and songs, made right when I was figuring out what kind of artist I wanted to be. They are my “workings”, in a sense, and taught me so much. I’m forever grateful to them. Also on this album are two newly recorded pieces: a solo piano rendition of the title track, “In My Room”, and a collaboration with my 13-year-old self in “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes”. I can’t think of anything I’ve released to the world that feels more personal. I’m so excited to be sharing them for the very first time!”
To celebrate the anniversary, Collier will mark the release of In My Room 10 with a series of special activities in London, with further details to be announced in the coming weeks.
Since the release of In My Room, Collier has become one of the most innovative and celebrated musicians of the 21st century. Across six studio albums, including the ambitious four-volume Djesse series and 2025’s acclaimed The Light For Days, he has amassed seven GRAMMY® Awards, collaborated with more than 100 artists spanning almost every conceivable genre, sold out arenas worldwide, and pioneered his now-famous audience choir phenomenon, bringing hundreds of thousands of voices into his music.
After bringing in-person magic to arenas across the globe throughout 2025, Jacob has entered 2026 with the same curiosity and creative energy that first fuelled In My Room. This year, he continues to share his musical and philosophical ideas around the world, serving as the BBC’s Ambassador for Singing, receiving honorary doctorates from NYU and Berklee College of Music, and partnering with TED as their guest music curator for this year’s conference.
Whether collaborating with artists including Coldplay, SZA, Shawn Mendes, John Mayer, Stormzy, Kirk Franklin, Anoushka Shankar and Joni Mitchell, or leading vast audience choirs across the globe, Collier continues to push the boundaries of what music can be, uniting people through curiosity, creativity and a language beyond words.
