LEADING HOMEBUILDER SUPPORTS LOCAL CHARITY FIGHTING CHILDREN’S CANCER NEUROBLASTOMA

Barratt Homes has donated £1,000 to a Wellingborough charity that funds research into childhood cancer and helps to support the families of children who are suffering from these diseases.

Niamh’s Next Step was set up by Niamh Curry’s parents after they tragically lost their daughter in 2012 to Neuroblastoma, a rare form of childhood cancer.

During Niamh’s 18 month battle with cancer, her parents struggled to fund the treatment alongside paying their normal expenses such as their mortgage. They started an appeal to raise funds and now continue to help others who are suffering.

The donation from Barratt Homes Northampton will help them to continue funding research into Neuroblastoma.

Chris Curry, Niamh’s Dad, Co-Founder and Chair of Niamh’s Next Step, said: “It was incredible to receive the kind donation from Barratt Homes. Every pound matters and we are very grateful.

“The donation will help to support a variety of things we do. We help fund research in to Neuroblastoma, which is a slow process but very important. We also help families who are suffering in a number of ways, such as support towards the treatment, helping with their mortgage, cars, wheel chairs, anything! We just want to try and make their lives just a little bit easier.

“Covid-19 halted the number of fundraising events we normally do. So Barratt Homes’ donation has helped immensely, it really has made a difference and helps us to continue supporting those who need it.”

Amer Alkhalil, Managing Director at Barratt Homes Northampton, said: “We are so pleased to be able to support Niamh’s Next Step and the amazing work they are doing.

“It is important to us a leading housebuilder to recognise and support local charities and organisations who help the communities near our developments.”
