Local housebuilders donate £1,500 to support families in Bedfordshire Hospital ICU
Local housebuilders Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes, who are currently building homes at the Clipstone Park and Linmere developments, have donated £1,500 to Bedfordshire Hospital NHS Charity.
The £1,500 donation comes from The Barratt Foundation, the housebuilder’s charity partnership, which aims to support local charities and groups wherever Barratt Redrow operates across the UK. The donation will go towards the upkeep and refurbishment of Bedfordshire Hospital’s relatives’ rooms in its adult Intensive Care Unit (ICU), located within the newly built Cedar Wing.
Bedfordshire Hospital NHS Charity helps patients, their families, carers and visitors by funding medical research, enhancing the care the hospital can offer, investing in NHS staff, supporting the creation of caring environments and providing small grants.
Charmaine Norrish, Fundraising Manager at Bedfordshire Hospital NHS Charity, commented: “As an NHS Charity, we aim to ease pressure on both Bedford Hospital as well as Luton and Dunstable University Hospital. We fundraise to support patients, staff and communities, bringing partners together to tackle some of the biggest challenges facing the NHS.
“Thanks to this donation from Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes, we can upgrade the Relatives’ Rooms on our new Intensive Care Unit, a dedicated space for loved ones when accompanying our patients during long and difficult periods on the wards. This generosity will make such a difference to our patients and visitors’ experiences.”
Marc Woolfe, Sales and Marketing Director at Barratt David Wilson North Thames, added: “Wherever we build new homes, we look to give back to our local communities. We are proud that our Community Foundation will have a positive impact at the Bedfordshire Hospital, helping to refurbish the Intensive Care Unit, which will provide vital support to patients and their families.”
Barratt David Wilson North Thames is building a range of new homes across Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire, in locations such as Aylesbury, Hemel Hempstead, Leighton Buzzard and Houghton Regis.
