A lucky Somerset local has won a new Kia car as part of #OnEveryCorner, a campaign tied to the summer’s global football tournament run by car rental provider Enterprise.

Elaine Oliver, who lives in Pawlett in Somerset with her husband Giles, entered the competition as she has a long-standing love of entering competitions and driving so was immediately hooked at the chance of winning a car.

Elaine works part-time for a local housing association and was previously a teacher and social worker. After learning she had been successful in the competition, she said: “I couldn’t believe it when I heard that I’d won a car! I was really shocked and humbled as I knew immediately the difference having a car will make to my life. I am genuinely at my happiest when I’m in a car, as driving and travelling are my favourite things to do so this will open up lots of new adventures.

“I’m already planning my first road trip with my husband to Scotland to visit my family. The last time we did a big road trip to Scotland we hired a car with Enterprise as we didn’t think our old car would cope. Now we’ll be driving our new Enterprise car there!”

Her winning entry was from a live post on X during a qualifying corner kick that resulted in a qualifying goal during the world’s biggest football tournament.

Elaine visited her local Kia Dealership in Weston-super-Mare to choose her new Kia at the end of September.

When asked what she is most looking forward when driving her new car, Elaine said: “I am a massive technology enthusiast and I love keeping up with the latest developments, so I am incredibly excited to experience all the up-to-date technology in a brand-new car! I can’t wait to explore the modern dashboard and smart features. Combining my love for driving with cutting-edge technology is a dream come true.”

Elaine currently drives a white Nissan Note which is 13 years old and has lovingly been named ‘Astrid’. Elaine said: “I love my old car but I’m so happy to have a new one. I can’t wait to come up with a name once I’ve got to know my new Kia better!”

In total, the Enterprise #OnEveryCorner competition has awarded 38 cars to winners around the world. The programme gave fans across the world a chance to win a car when corner kicks led to a goal by posting #OnEveryCorner on social media, connecting fans with the anticipation and excitement of live match play and turning each corner kick into a real-time opportunity.

“Corner kicks are some of the most decisive plays in the game, defined by preparation, timing and opportunity,” said Kyle Sanborn, Vice President of Global Brand & Marketing Strategy. “This program brings the moment to life for fans, while reinforcing what Enterprise delivers every day: reliable mobility solutions when and where they are needed.”

For every qualifying corner kick goal scored during the world’s biggest football tournament, Enterprise Mobility also awarded grants to select nonprofit organizations, distributing up to $500,000 in total, further connecting Enterprise with local people and reinforcing the organisation’s long-standing commitment to strengthening the communities it serves.
