MANAGING DIRECTOR PUT IN THE HOT SEAT AS NORFOLK HOUSEBUILDER EXPANDS BUSINESS

Six months after the launch of Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ new Norfolk-based Anglia division, the developer’s Managing Director, Simon Wood, has been placed in the hot seat to answer questions about the growth of the business.

Simon Wood (41), originally from Cardiff, has taken the helm of the brand new division which opened its headquarters at Broadland Business Park in Norwich earlier this year.

Having been the Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ Eastern Counties division in Chelmsford before the company expanded, he joined a number of his colleagues at the new Anglia division as he looks to steer the business in a new and exciting direction.

Simon said: “Being the Managing Director of a new division is a unique and exciting experience that has enabled me to establish a new team with a blend of existing and new employees, all of which share the same vision to build high quality, sustainable new homes throughout Norfolk and Suffolk.

“Our target for 2023 is to deliver approximately 320 five-star quality homes across six developments. We plan to grow the division sustainably year-on-year to in excess of 600 units within the next three to five years.

“Being based in Norwich provides us with a more localised hub of people to support our sites, and it also enables us to build and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders and our local suppliers.”
Barratt and David Wilson Homes Anglia began trading in July 2022 and all positions are now filled.

The divisional board of experts working alongside Simon include Dave Martin (Construction Director), Alison Page (Sales Director) Simeon Nelson (Technical Director), Darren Parker (Commercial Director) and Gareth Mears (Development Director).
During its infancy, the division will look to deliver brand new developments throughout Norfolk and Suffolk, as far south as the A14.

Simon added: “Now we’ve opened our divisional office at Broadland Business Park, it has opened the door to a wide range of opportunities to work with our local communities.

“Having expanded the business, we will be able to contribute £1,500 each month to a variety of local charities via the Barratt Foundation. Our new developments will also provide further contributions to the local authorities to help improve local community facilities and infrastructure.

“All employees are also given two volunteering days each year to support local causes. Some members of our team have already been making the most of this, and jumped at the chance to sign up to litter picking and tree planting opportunities in the county.
“We’ve also chosen our Charity of the Year, Safe Rescue for Dogs, and will be arranging various fundraising events throughout the year such as golf days, bake sales and games tournaments, to name a few.”

Barratt and David Wilson Homes currently has a range of properties available at its developments across Norfolk, including Woodland Heath in Sprowston, Cringleford Heights in Cringleford, Kingfisher Meadow in Horsford and Wayland Fields in Watton.
