Mates in pubs and kids in playgrounds have debated the answer to one incredibly important question: are Jaffa Cakes a cake, or a biscuit?
For years, households across the UK, mates in pubs and kids in playgrounds have debated the answer to one incredibly important question: are Jaffa Cakes a cake, or a biscuit?
Long has the nation wrestled with an answer, but today, following an ‘artistic disagreement’ over an advert celebrating the sweet treat’s history, Jaffa Cakes HQ have come forward to settle the debate once and for all.
A mural, which was painted to celebrate Jaffa Cakes’ ties with the local community – which are produced in its Stockport factory – received a ‘makeover’ this week, when one overzealous biscuit fan changed Jaffa Cakes to Jaffa ‘Biscuits’.
The brand has since corrected the artwork back to Jaffa ‘Cakes’ – and shared the following comment:
Adam Woolf, Marketing Director at McVitie’s, said: “We love that our brand gets the nation talking, even arguing, about whether it is a cake or a biscuit. However, we can confirm – Jaffa Cakes are definitely cakes! Afterall, the clue is on the box…”
