MEZCALITO TO EXPORT ITS WINNING COMBO OF TACOS, TEQUILA & MEZCAL NORTH OF THE BORDER

In November 2018, Mezcalito opened in Chelsea with one aim: to become London’s go-to Mexican restaurant. Three years later, it has done just that, thanks to its winning combination of tequila, tacos and downright good fun. (If you don’t want to take our word for it, ask Breaking Bad legend Bryan Cranston!). Now it is taking the next step with the launch of an equally irresistible sibling, this time in the heart of Islington.

Opening in May, and once more showcasing the best that contemporary Mexican hospitality has to offer, Mezcalito Islington will replicate the charm and vibrancy of the original, as well as transporting its guests to exotic, sun-kissed climes. No passport required.

Here you’ll find a line-up of authentic and modern Mexican dishes that reflect the current trends in Mexico’s culinary scene. Classics like tacos, guacamole, burritos, quesadillas, nachos, corn on the cob and churros co-exist happily alongside more cutting-edge offerings such as chicken tinga Mexican bao, beetroot & spinach tortilla wraps and chipotle chocolate fondant.

Washing this down is an impressive collection of over 250 agave spirits, well-known brands, limited releases, hard-to-find bottles and vintage editions alike. In fact, Mezcalito is reputed to have the second largest selection in the UK, just behind Annabel’s which, as a private member’s club, is not open to the public.

Meanwhile, Mezcalito’s fantastic team of mixologists have crafted a world-class cocktail menu. This is spearheaded by ”Visit Mexico Through Cocktails”, tequila- and mezcal-based drinks inspired by ten holiday destinations in Mexico, made with ingredients from each region. This menu is interactive; each cocktail has its own QR code which when scanned, sends a video of the destination to the user’s phone.

This ‘holiday’ theme continues with the music choice, a carefully curated and weekly updated selection that mixes Reggaetón (J Balvin, Maluma, Ricky Martin, Bad Bunny, Enrique Iglesias) and Mexican Pop (Reik, Belinda, Christian Nodal, Thalia).

Last but by no means least, Islington will offer the same exemplary service that Chelsea regulars have come to know and love. After all, InterNations did recently name Mexico as one of the top three most welcoming countries in the world!
Mezcalito Islington will open Tuesday through Sunday, from 5pm to 12.30am.
