M&S extends popular reservation shopping service ‘Sparks Book & Shop’

Following the introduction of new restrictions this week, M&S will be continuing with its popular shopping reservation service ‘Sparks Book & Shop’, meaning customers can reserve a shopping slot at a time that suits them.

First trialled in September, before being rolled out to all stores as part of M&S’s commitment to help make shopping quicker, easier and safer for everyone, the digital tech has been incredibly popular with customers – having now facilitated over half a million bookings in total!

Helen Milford, M&S Stores Director said: “We know customers remain concerned about queuing, especially with our winter weather, so in response, we’re continuing with Sparks Book & Shop which was popular over Christmas. The quick, digital solution designed by our in-house tech teams helps Sparks customers guarantee a slot at a time that suits them and removes the need to queue should there be one. We hope this is a small way we can help make things a little easier for our customers as we continue to focus on helping them shop with confidence.”

Sparks Book & Shop will run until at least the start of February and is one of the many ways M&S is helping keep customers safe and allowing them to shop with confidence. Other measures include:

  • A friendly host at each entrance to manage the store’s maximum capacity by counting customers in using their handheld Honeywell device and checking-in Sparks Book & Shop customers.
  • Hand sanitiser available at the front door (and in other parts of the store).
  • Extensive signage & floor markings throughout the store to remind everyone to give each other the space they need and to make it easier to find products.
  • Perspex screens at tills with clear signage encouraging contactless payments (up to the increased limit of £45).
  • Mobile Pay Go available at all owned stores so customers can pay for their shopping on their smartphone without needing to visit a checkout.
  • Face coverings must be worn by customers shopping in our stores unless they have a medical exemption.

To book a shopping slot, customers should visit www.marksandspencer.com/bookandshop or download the M&S app and look for Sparks Book & Shop. Then simply turn up at the allocated time and check-in with the friendly host at the front door.
