New ‘Summer Special’ cake launched
The UK’s largest online cake retailer, Sponge.co.uk, has bolstered its line of baked sweet treats with a brand new sponge cake, to celebrate the season ahead.
Sponge’s ‘Summer Special’ is a golden, lemon-infused sponge with vibrant pockets of blueberries, smothered in creamy white chocolate and blueberry buttercream.
The new arrival uses whole blueberries and mixes powdered blueberries into the buttercream, resulting in a vibrant creamy layer that runs throughout the middle and over the top of the cake. The effortless yet enticing decoration is finished with a white chocolate lattice across the top – balancing out the fruity flavours with a rich, creamy sweetness.
Richard Fowler, Head of Sponge, commented: “We are so excited to unveil our tasty new Summer Special this May. The cake serves eight people and costs £16.75. It is available for consumer and trade customers to purchase through the website.
