NEW Wine Bar South London
Central London was long the go-to spot for the latest and greatest new bars in town but that is very much something of the past. Enter henny’s – London’s chicest new wine hangout – a destination bar on the leafy streets of Balham, South West London. henny’s is the one-stop (literal) shop for all your ethically & sustainably sourced biodynamic wines. henny’s started life a little down the road in Tooting Market in 2017. Establishing itself as one of the boudoirs for Beaujolais (other wines are available!) – however when the opportunity arose to move into their first bricks and mortar space – the team behind henny’s jumped at the chance.
henny’s is a self-funded entity with the foundations being paid for by credit card – a real labour of love. Whilst the team behind henny’s know their grapes having worked in the industry for many years before embarking on their wine wonderland – it is very much a safe space for the wine novice. There is no room for snobbery – henny’s is a relaxed environment to explore the world of wine. Their aim is to introduce new wine to people and have people drinking differently. In the words of one of their founders, Niall Penlington “We focus on organic and biodynamic wine, as we think this gives the true expression of a region and highlights the skills of the winemakers”
There will be a weekly changing menu giving their drinkers a reason to keep on coming back.
Don’t expect an extensive bottle list, the emphasis is on by the glass / carafe – the best way to get punters drinking differently. The pricing will be very competitive with margins kept as low as possible – meaning people can drink fine wine at an even finer price. Glasses of wine starting from £5.50, cocktails from £9 and bottles of wine starting from £20. No bottom of the barrel stuff here (excuse the pun).
For the peckish drinker, there will be a selection of tasty bar snacks whilst they have also teamed up with Yard Sale Pizza – pizzas delivered directly to your table so there is no need to stop the flow of wine!
Not a wine drinker? Fear not, henny’s caters for all, they will have a couple of beers on tap with a few more bottles in the fridge. They will also have three cocktails on the menu – the launching cocktails will be Negroni Sbagliato, French 75 and a classic G&T.
During the day henny’s will offer teas, coffees and a space to WFH (Work from henny’s). In addition, they want to be used as a work during the day/ arts space, with regular events such as tastings, life drawings and art classes.
