NOT PRIORITISING BRITS FOR SOCIAL HOUSING LEADS IS A CONCERN FOR LOCAL PEOPLE

A former Conservative MP has said he is ‘disappointed’ by the government’s decision to scrap the scheme to prioritise British people for social housing.

Speaking on GB News Daniel Kawczyski said:

“I have to say I agree with Lee Anderson. I think certainly, when I was a Member of Parliament, there was a lot of concern expressed to me by my by my constituents, that people, in certain cases, who had broken the law to get into this country, paid criminal gangs money that they knew was being used for other criminal activity, that they would be treated in the same way as indigenous British people.

“I think that is not the case in many other European countries. I think many other European countries have special policies to prioritise their own indigenous people. So I’m very disappointed by the actions of Angela Rayner.

“When I was at MP I had to spend a huge amount of time trying to get a five star hotel in the centre of Shrewsbury closed for asylum seekers because obviously that facility was extremely important to our tourism industry.

“But at the end of the day, I want to drive out immigration from being in the top five issues at any general election.

“The British people are some of the most tolerant and welcoming people in the world. I speak as an immigrant to this country myself, coming from communist Poland in 1978 and all I saw when I came here as an immigrant is tolerance, kindness, hospitality from the British people.

“And yet, when they see a huge number of people coming from overseas being treated, let’s say, in the same way as indigenous British people, when the British people have to wait for such a time that breeds a certain amount of concern and exasperation amongst our indigenous people.”
