NYC party king SkullandHeadphones kicks out the jams with fresh release
New Jersey disco don SkullandHeadphones has dropped his addictive new track ‘Without Your Love’. A summer anthem-in-waiting, it redefines disco for a new era.
With the world in lockdown, we need music more than ever. If one song can instantly turn people’s living rooms and kitchens into a dancefloor then it’s ‘Without Your Love’, the incredible new jam from SkullandHeadphones. Its vocodered vocal mantra, phat bassline, and pounding house beat may bring to mind the Daft Punk and the classic house cuts of 1980s Detroit, but they couldn’t belong to any other time but this.
‘Without Your Love’ comes hot on the heels of SkullandHeadphones’ first release, ‘The Force’, which channelled the spirit of Sylvester and gave it a 2020 body to dance in. When the world’s nightclubs reopen, both tunes will be going straight into the boxes of self-respecting house and disco DJs and filling floors for years to come.
Crank your speakers up and listen to ‘Without Your Love’ on streaming platforms!
SkullandHeadphones is the alias of Tiro Rivero, a key player on New York’s influential deep house and nu-disco scene. As an associate and neighbour of legendary figures such as Erick Morillo, Benji Candelario, and Michael Moog, Rivero was the long-time music director of East Village’s world-famous Webster Hall.
During the 2010s, Rivero’s interest developed from holding parties to being their soundtrack. Left with a stack of equipment when a promoter pulled out of a party he’d put together, he suddenly had everything he needed to make his musical dreams a reality. Relocating to Hoboken, New Jersey, he set up a studio, got busy and, judging from his first two releases, got damn funky too! SkullandHeadphones was born.
