Queen would be horrified by treatment of Lady Hussey – Lord Marland
LORD Marland has spoken out against the Royal Family over their treatment of Lady Susan Hussey after her incident with Ngozi Fulani.
Lady Susan, the Prince of Wales’s 83-year-old godmother, resigned from the household and apologised following her meeting with Ms Fulani when h at the Queen Consort’s reception highlighting violence against women and girls.
Joining Bev Turner on GB News, Lord Marland said: “When there was that attack on the House of Commons and the whole House of Lords and Commons were shut, she happened to be having lunch.
“We were driven into the basement and for two or three hours we had to sit in the basement waiting for the Lords and Commons to be cleared.
“She’s a remarkable woman. She had to sit on a waste paper basket for about three hours, an upturned waste paper basket with no chairs.
“The Queen would be horrified by all this. Service to the Queen for 40 years, unpaid, almost certainly.
“Dedicated to meeting people, being nice to them, introducing them. To end up having this done to her is, I think, a shocking thing.
“To have the whole conversation reported by the person who she had the conversation with, with no right of reply.
“So I feel deeply upset for Lady Hussey, she has done great service to this country and actually, I think the reaction of the Royal family to the Twitter storm was wrong and was weak. I just think this is madness.”
Earlier, royal reporter Kinsey Schofield told Isabel Webster and Martin Daubney that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were heckled as they arrived to receive the Ripple of Hope human rights award in New York City last night.
“They did have a small group of people that were waiting for them at the entrance,” she said.
“We did have a heckler that yelled, ‘why are you trying to destroy the royal family?’ But for the most part, I do think that they’re considering the evening a success.”
She told GB News: “I think that we’re going to be able to answer that question for you after these three episodes are released on Netflix.
“If you look at the reaction just to the trailer itself, over 400,000 people have disliked it, which is heavily, much more than the people that have liked the video.
“I don’t think that people are buying into it.”
Kinsey added: “She wants to be in the political sphere. Of course, she’s going to associate with the Kennedys. This was a room full of Democrats and this is who she needs to swoon, this is who she needs to get on her side.
“I do think that she has political aspirations and that was the ultimate objective.”
