RANDY BRITS: Nation set on having the kinkiest Valentine’s yet

With the likes of Bridgerton and Married at First Sight getting Brit’s hearts racing during lockdown, sales of sex toys have increased by 593% and searches for kinky bedroom antics have increased by 82%.

In light of this, price comparison site idealo.co.uk has combined its product lead-out data with a poll of 2,000 Brits to reveal the nation’s favourite sex toys and Valentine’s Day bedroom plans.

Results show that vibrators are a firm favourite, keeping 60% of the nation entertained during lockdown months at home. And idealo’s product data shows, at Christmas, sex toy sales spiked by 238%, with vibrator sales increasing by 187%.

With many stuck without being able to see their partners, sales and Google searchers have gone through the roof with many looking for answers on how to keep themselves entertained.

Google search data reveals there are 2,600 monthly searches around “How to use a vibrator?”, an increase of 53%, 1,500 for “How to use a cock ring?” and 1,400 asking “How to use a dildo?”

As well as this, 1,500 are asking “How to give a good blow job?” and 2,400 people are searching for “Tips on phone sex” – up 61%.

idealo’s Katy Phillips commented on the findings: “As we’ve seen such a huge surge in sex toy sales, the UK is clearly spicing things up and planning for a very romantic and exciting Valentine’s Day during lockdown.

“Often considered a taboo subject in the UK, sex is becoming a frequent topic of conversation, particularly with popular Netflix shows like Bridgerton and Married at First Sight influencing audiences to bring out their kinky side. We expect to see sales of sex toys to continue to rise as the nation stays apart from their other-halves and spends more time alone in their bedrooms.”
