SEA LIFE HUNSTANTON’S PENGUIN PALS FED UP WITH BEING MUGGED OFF

As the summer of love draws to a close, SEA LIFE Hunstanton’s resident Humboldt Penguins, Fig, Dangermouse and Barnacles are searching for a mate to settle down with at the centre’s Penguin Beach.

The three flippered friends have decided they’ve had enough of the single lad life and are ready to commit to a serious relationship. The squad all joined up at SEA LIFE Hunstanton back in 2018 and have been inseparable ever since.

The Humboldt Penguins originate from South America, breeding mainly in the north of Chile. The playful penguin species are known to mate for life, so Hunstanton’s bachelor trio are now on the hunt for the perfect penguin for them.

Whilst Barnacles, also known as Barney, is known for following round his keepers and is fond of having his belly tickled, he’s now wanting to put his eggs in one basket and is looking for someone to help him feel less ice-olated.

Similarly, Dangermouse and Fig are hunting for their ultimate match to settle down with. Fig is known to be a very affectionate and loving penguin and with so much love to give, the adorable aquatic bird will be hoping he can make his way up the ‘pecking’ order and put the ‘peng’ into penguin.

Dangermouse has been referred to as the most independent penguin out of the three, but even the most free-spirited of penguins need a companion to share their life with.

Nigel Croasdale, General Manager at SEA LIFE Hunstanton, said: “Fig, Dangermouse and Barnacles have enjoyed living the bachelor lifestyle since coming to Hunstanton in 2018. However, love must be in the sea air, as we’ve noticed they are a lot more interested in finding someone to settle down with.

“Penguins don’t tend to play the field, once they’ve found their perfect partner they are locked in for life. Our Humboldt Penguin trio have started their quest for love and are looking forward to getting to know more birds to find a deeper connection and hopefully a lifelong partnership.”
