From the very beginning, the story of Puerto de Indias is an unconventional one. Founded by brothers Jose Antonio and Francisco Rodriguez Fernandez after they spotted the wild Huelva strawberries growing near the distillery, the founders set about making a strawberry liqueur. But their curiosity dared them to mix distilled, macerated strawberries with gin…and the iconic, distinctive and delicious Puerto de Indias was born.
Taking inspiration from the explorers and pioneers of its hometown of Seville – its name translates as ‘Port to the Americas’ – the brands’ founders coupled original copper stills dating from 1880 with a drive for innovation, and a relentless desire to challenge the ‘known’.
