The Building Beauty Awards are delighted to announce the appointment of Rory Sutherland and Theo Fennell as the latest judges to join the award scheme’s already prestigious panel of forward thinkers.

The Building Beauty Awards welcome these two new high- profile judges to a panel chaired by one of Britain’s foremost design critics, Stephen Bayley Hon FRIBA, and otherwise comprising architectural commentator Paul Finch OBE, architectural writer Clive Aslet and cultural historian Kassia St. Clair.

Vice Chairman of Ogilvy UK and Columnist for The Spectator, Rory Sutherland is a lateral thinker focusing on the concept of creativity. Over the years, Rory has been President of the IPA, Chair of the Judges for the Direct Jury at Cannes and a regular contributor at TED Global.

As well as promoting design excellence in the UK, The Building Beauty Awards will now be expanding its reach to a global audience, with the launch of an International Building Beauty prize at the World Architecture Festival. The winner of the UK Building Beauty Awards will automatically be shortlisted for the first global prize, to be awarded in Lisbon in December 2022, providing the opportunity to showcase Britain’s architectural beauty on a world stage.

The World Architecture Festival is the world’s largest annual international architectural event, comprising three days of keynote talks, awards, and fringe events, featuring leading global architectural thinkers and industry personalities. There is no better platform in the architectural world than this event, and the new prize presents an exciting opportunity for global exposure for the winning architect.

Launched by The Royal Fine Art Commission Trust, and sponsored by leading developer Ballymore, the Building Beauty Awards celebrate buildings, engineering structures and urban landscaping schemes that add beauty to our environment. Everyone from architects to members of the public is welcome to submit an entry free of charge at www.buildingbeautyawards.com. The deadline for entries is the end of March 2022.
