The world has spent more than two billion cumulative hours watching Squid Game in the last two months

New research has revealed that Squid Game has been watched for a combined total of 239,830 years since its launch on Netflix in September.

The study by online security experts VPNOverview.com discovered the massive viewing figures which reveal just how popular the series has been.

The series has had triple the combined viewing hours of Netflix’s next most popular show – You, the first three seasons of which have been watched for a total of 712,790,000 hours in October and November.

Squid Game has averaged 233,434,444 viewing hours each week – the equivalent of 26,648 years. The show’s biggest week was between 3 and 10 October, when it logged 571,760,000 viewing hours – more than the highest single week figures for the three next most popular Netflix titles combined:

Money Heist: Part 5 – 201,910,000 hours, 5-12 September
You: Season 3 – 179,000,000 hours, 24-31 October
Maid: Limited Series – 166,520,000 hours, 10-17 October

Commenting on the figures, a spokesperson for VPNOverview.com said: “Squid Game has been a television phenomenon, and these figures show just how massive it has been. It’s difficult to comprehend such huge numbers, with billions of hours dedicated to the show. Netflix know that it needs to keep producing big hits like this to keep subscribers coming in, so the company will be encouraged by the 148,720,000 hours that people have already spent watching the major new film Red Notice since its launch.”
