Vital PPE delivered within hours after charity’s call for help

A SOLUTIONS business has donated more than 250 visors to a local hospice charity after it gave a shout out for help.

Eco, which is based in Annan and Mealsgate, near Cockermouth, delivered the vital items to Hospice at Home West Cumbria following an appeal on social media by the charity for PPE.

The company, which supplies PPE to the health and care sector, as well as to a range of industries, businesses and other organisations across the UK as part of its Emergency Rapid Response Solutions, sourced and delivered the items to the charity’s office in Workington within hours of seeing the post on social media.

Ellie Missen, Executive Assistant at Eco, said: “When I saw the appeal for PPE items, I realised that we could help. With the hospice providing support for some of the most vulnerable people in the community, it is vital that they have the essential equipment they need to protect themselves and those in their care. We were delighted to be able to help.”

Eco was one of several businesses which responded to the call for help by the charity, which provides palliative and end of life care throughout West Cumbria.

Melinda Scott, Family & Bereavement Support Team Leader for the hospice, said: “We would like to thank Eco and all the companies that have donated PPE for our clinical teams. We are overwhelmed at the response we have had.

“The safety of our nurses and patients is paramount and we thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts”.

Eco operates across a range of sectors to deliver multiple products and services for commercial, industrial, public sector and residential customers.

The family-owned group, which employs more than 50 people, has also received praise for the way it has adapted to the pandemic to provide rapid response solutions for industry and the medical sector. Earlier this year it delivered one million items of PPE to UK care homes in seven days.

Eco’s services include design and build solutions, communications and IT solutions, and dry ice manufacture and supply – the latter vital for the transportation and storage of any Covid-19 vaccine.

Eco also owns Ghyll House Upholstery and Design, based at Mealsgate, which supplies a range of customers with bespoke interiors solutions for both residential and commercial markets, including the hospitality and leisure industry and health sector.
