WARNER MUSIC AND THE RIO FERDINAND FOUNDATION EXTEND LEVELLING-UP PARTNERSHIP
Warner Music UK (WMUK) and Warner Music Ireland (WMI) today announced a three-year extension of their levelling-up partnership with The Rio Ferdinand Foundation. The project is aimed at 14-24 year-olds and aims to enable and educate youth networks about what roles and opportunities are open to them in the music and football business; from internships and work experience at WMUK and WMI, to mentoring and advice from Warner Music employees and artists.
In addition, the programme will deliver year-round football and music activities, giving young individuals a platform for creativity and to raise their aspirations around their community. The project will deliver accredited training that incorporates transferable skills for employment and vocational training in creative industries, helping to open pathways to meaningful careers.
Bauer Media Group’s KISS will also be supporting the partnership through their editorial and content team. Their involvement comes hot off the heels of KISS’ successful #notboxed campaign, which aims to help young people get into their dream job. A survey conducted by KISS showed that whilst three-quarters of young people have some idea of what their dream job is, nearly half are unsure of the process to go there.
The first event in 2023 will take place on Saturday 11th March at Salford University, with workshops planned across A&R, Broadcast Media, PR/Communications, along with a panel discussion and a networking session, for over 150 young people.
There’ll be more events to follow in the year in both the West Midlands and Dublin. Beyond 2023, the programme will travel to Cork, Limerick, London, Northern Ireland, the North East, and Yorkshire and Humber.

Set up by Rio Ferdinand in 2012, the Rio Ferdinand Foundation addresses issues of inequality that Rio had experienced in his own life, growing up in Peckham, South London. The cornerstones of its work are supporting and empowering young people from working-class communities, tackling racism and inequality, and providing opportunities and pathways to deliver social mobility and realise personal potential. The Foundation has supported more than 10,000 young people to date across regional hubs in London, Manchester and Belfast. With the extension of the partnership with Warner Music UK and Warner Music Ireland, the Foundation will be able to provide support in new areas
