Weston Homes is delighted to announce three key senior appointments within its growing leadership teams; Steve Hatton, Group Development Director at Weston Homes, has joined the Weston Homes Group Board, while Abbie Simpson has been promoted to Land and Partnerships Director and Daniel Murray to Planning and Design Director.

These promotions follow Weston Homes dynamic new chapter with the recent launch of Weston Partnerships, a dedicated division that is part of the Group’s strategy to foster development partnerships with both the public and private sector. This new strategy will encompass the wider living sector, including Build-to-Rent, affordable housing, student accommodation, Co Living and later living. Led by Steve Hatton, the division is already delivering a strong pipeline of more than 1,000 units across key sites in Bracknell, Barking and Cambridge. The trio of promotions will support this next phase of growth as the business continues to diversify.

Steve Hatton’s promotion to the Weston Group Board marks the next chapter in a remarkable career that began with Weston Homes more than two decades ago. Steve first joined Weston Homes in 2002 through its Management Trainee programme, with the company supporting his studies as he achieved a First-Class Honours degree in Urban and Environmental Planning and a Postgraduate Diploma (Distinction) in Urban Design at London South Bank University.

Rising through the ranks from trainee to group director, Steve has played a central role in shaping some of Weston Homes’ most significant developments including the £350 million (GDV) Abbey Quay in Barking, providing over 1,000homes, and the £500 million (GDV) Lorimer Village in Goodmayes, set to deliver around 1,400 homes.

The second key appointment sees Abbie Simpson promoted to Land and Partnerships Director, testament to her enduring hard work and success within the Group. Abbie first joined the business in 2015 as a Trainee Land Manager, and through her dedication and hard work, has steadily progressed through a range of senior roles within the Land team. Alongside her work, she achieved a First-Class Honours Degree in Real Estate Management, became a Chartered Surveyor, and has gained extensive experience in identifying and securing first-rate development opportunities across London and the south east.

With her expertise in land acquisition, Abbie brings both commercial acumen and a track record for nurturing partnerships with a collaborative approach. In her new role, she is the lead for the Land and Partnerships department for Weston Homes, focusing on driving new opportunities and supporting the pipeline of their future developments.

The third appointment sees Daniel Murray promoted to Planning and Design Director, following more than seven years with Weston Homes. Daniel joined the business in 2018 as a Senior Architect and has since progressed through a series of senior design roles, most recently serving as Head of Design, where he has helped shape the architectural identity of many of Weston Homes’ landmark developments.

As a Chartered Architect, Daniel combines previous UK and international practice experience across a mixture of sectors with a passion for thoughtful, design-led placemaking. In his new role, he will lead the Planning and Design department, guiding the creative and strategic vision for all future developments.
