What’s On In June: Midsommar Celebrations at Ekstedt at The Yard (21st)


Celebrate the joy of Midsommar (Sweden’s most cherished festival in homage to the longest day of the year) with a spectacular dinner at Michelin-starred chef Niklas Ekstedt’s acclaimed London restaurant, Ekstedt at The Yard, on Friday 21st June at 7pm.

Specialising in Nordic wood fire cooking techniques, Ekstedt at the Yard invites guests to gather around communal-style tables for a five-course dinner,
alongside traditional flower crown-making with Swedish-style music from a live band.

Honouring the dishes of his native Sweden, Niklas’ menu, brought to life by Head Chef Therese Andersson, will feature a smorgasbord of authentic plates
designed to encapsulate the essence of Midsommar. Fire and nature will play a defining role throughout the evening, with small bites infused with the smoky flavours of the open grill – including Flambadou oyster and S.O.S (a popular appetiser in Sweden) –
composed of butter, cheese and herring.

Additional starters and mains embracing ancient Nordic culinary traditions include gravadlax cured salmon with smoked potato velouté as well as juniper
smoked beef ribeye on the bone with wild garlic butter, asparagus and Hasselback potatoes.

Finish the evening on a sweet note celebrating the flavours of the season with a summer dessert table.

Tickets are priced at £110pp. A wine pairing
option is available for an additional £115pp, with each glass carefully selected by Head Sommelier
Klearhos Kanellakis to perfectly
complement the balance of charred, smoky and uplifting flavours in each course.
