WHITTLESEY PUPIL’S GREETINGS CARDS WELCOME RESIDENTS TO THEIR NEW NEIGHBOURHOOD

Following a greetings card design competition with Barratt Homes, an imaginative pupil from a school in Cambridgeshire has spread joy to residents at the homebuilder’s Whittlesey Lakeside development.

As part of a ‘Welcome Home’ campaign, the housebuilder reached out to Alderman Jacobs Primary School close to its new development in Whittlesey, for the help of the school children to design greeting cards to be handed out to new homebuyers.

Local pupil, Jason (Age 9), was crowned the winner of the competition and has seen his card printed to be delivered to new residents. He has also received an 85-piece art set as a prize so he can continue to express his creative skills.

Naomi York, Teacher at Alderman Jacobs Primary School, said: “The children all really enjoyed getting involved and creating their designs for the card competition. It’s great for us as a school to have the opportunity to be working alongside businesses in the local community. Jason’s winning design was fantastic and he was extremely pleased to be chosen as the winner!”

The campaign aims to provide a warm welcome to those who have recently moved to the development, whilst also highlighting key information about the local area.

Jason’s winning design featured the famous 17th Century Buttercross located in the market square in Whittlesey.

Will Phair, Sales Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Cambridgeshire, said: “It’s important to us to make new residents feel welcome as they join our new communities, and we’re thankful to the pupils of Alderman Jacobs Primary School for helping us to do just that.

“We hope that when moving into their new home, a welcome from a local school pupil will really put a smile on homeowners’ faces.

“We received a variety of inventive entries as part of the Welcome Home card campaign and it was a difficult task choosing our winner, however we hope this project has inspired the imaginations of the children involved.”

Whittlesey Lakeside is located on the edge of the popular market town of Whittlesey, which is just eight miles east of Peterborough. The development features amenities to suit the lifestyles of young couples, growing families and commuters alike.

Residents can take advantage of semi-rural living with miles of Cambridgeshire countryside on the doorstep, along with excellent commuter links, with easy access to the A605, A1 and A47.
