Winter wonderland offers wellbeing fix at Dunham Massey’s illuminated trail

Christmas at Dunham Massey’s beautiful illuminated trail presents the perfect opportunity to enjoy the Great Outdoors during the festive holiday period.

The trail is open until Monday, January 2 and there are still tickets available every day from Tuesday, December 27.

The gardens at Dunham Massey’s National Trust property are the ideal place to re-connect with nature, a proven way to promote relaxation and improve mental health at an often stressful time of the year.

Matt Findlay, Sony Music’s Head of UK Trails, said: “Heading outside into the natural world helps both our physical and mental health and Christmas at Bedgebury provides a welcome fix of winter wellbeing.

“Exercise is not always easy to do during the long, dark months but this is a great way of upping your steps and raising your heart rate, whilst marvelling at the beauty and artistry of the trails.

“Being outdoors can have a positive effect on anxiety, depression and clarity for the brain and Christmas at Bedgebury is a highly sensory, immersive experience from which family, friends and loved ones can all benefit.”

Curated installations this year include larger-than-life Lilies, a multi-coloured Laser Garden and Light a Wish by OGE Group, courtesy of Light Art Collection, which resembles several heads of fluffy dandelions floating in the night sky.
A new work will be Gladioli Tunnel, by UK-based arts collective Jigantics, in which lit arches of multicoloured flowers bathe visitors in a myriad of different lights. Jigantics was set up by Jig Cochrane in 2007, after he had spent 20 years working as an artist with community projects around the world.
Christmas at Dunham Massey is full of seasonal surprises and shimmering reflections that cast light on beautiful silhouettes of majestic trees, all choreographed to a soundtrack of festive favourites. The trail is designed for visitors of all ages to enjoy.
Independent street food vendors bring a delicious twist with tasty treats on offer. Complete your walk under the stars with a *spiced winter warmer or *hot chocolate shared with friends and family. Everyone loves toasting a marshmallow over an open fire and the artisan *marshmallow stall gives visitors the chance to warm their hands and enjoy this sweet outdoor tradition.
