World Premiere, AppleWatch connected with the AR glasses

MicroOLED, the company that specializes in the design and manufacture of OLED microdisplays, today announced the first of its kind integration of the ActiveLook platform with Apple Watch.

The integration enables ActiveLook partners – and more importantly, Apple Watch users – to benefit from ActiveLook’s industry-leading “Light AR” solution for endurance athletes. ActiveLook combines MicroOLED’s near-eye displays with an open platform to develop high-performance applications.

The new ActiveLook integration with Apple Watch enables Apple Watch users to connect an ActiveLook product to the Apple Watch via Bluetooth, and to create up to three “dashboards” of real-time data, for example Running Pace, Running Speed, and Running power, in addition to the latest running dynamics metrics introduced in Watch OS 9: Stride Length, Ground Contact Time, and Vertical Oscillation.

Placing this data in the runner’s natural field of view, eliminates the need to break stride or change body mechanics to monitor performance. The ActiveLook solution is a competitive advantage for endurance athletes such as marathoners and triathletes, who rely on real-time metrics, such as pace, in order to train and compete. ActiveLook makes these performance metrics accessible instantly, at a glance. The new Apple Watch integration benefits from the same intuitive and non-distracting experience that ActiveLook has pioneered since 2019.

MicroOLED CEO Eric Marcellin-Dibon commented, “The Apple Watch integration delivers the best ActiveLook experience to date, from simplified setup to super intuitive use with the Apple Watch’s touchscreen combined with the gesture control function found in ActiveLook products. Our team has delivered a breakthrough AR experience that highlights the benefits and value of MicroOLED’s ActiveLook platform: lightweight, long battery life, excellent brightness, and low cost – choose four! We believe that competitive runners will greatly benefit from this solution.”

ActiveLook 2.0 is now available in the App Store for consumers at no cost. ActiveLook compatible glasses, presently offered by ENGO, Julbo, and Cosmo, are required. ActiveLook developers kits are also available.
