Homemade Detroit-style pizza in under 40 minutes

For those who don’t live close to one of the most popular Detroit-style pizza spots, the experts at Ninja Kitchen have revealed their six-step Detroit-style pizza recipe, which you can make at home.

Prepare your dough
Oil the bottom and sides of a baking tray with one tablespoon of olive oil. Stretch and toss 850-900 grams of fresh homemade dough by hand. Place the dough inside the prepared baking tray, making sure the surface of the tray is covered and set inside the unit.

Tip: Substitute the olive oil for baking parchment for a healthier alternative.

Prove the dough for 20 minutes

On your Ninja Artisan Electric Outdoor Pizza Oven & Air Fryer select the PROVE mode and set the timer for 20 minutes. Once the PROVE is complete, remove the baking tray from the unit and cover with cling film.

Preheat your pizza stone for 10 minutes

Install the pizza stone in the unit, select the PIZZA mode and turn the dial to select PAN. Set the timer for 10 minutes to allow the pizza stone to preheat.

Assemble your toppings

Remove cling film from the dough and evenly cover it with 150 grams of pizza sauce, spreading to the edge of the crust.

Then, top the pizza with your desired toppings, followed by 150 grams of grated mozzarella. Layer any additional toppings over the mozzarella.

Cook your pizza for 15 minutes

Once your pizza stone is preheated, place your baking tray on the pizza stone. Set the timer for 15 minutes and cook until your pizza is golden brown.

Allow the pizza to rest for 10 minutes

When cooking is complete, remove the tray from the unit and let your pizza rest for 10 minutes before cutting into squares and serving. Garnish with additional toppings, such as two tablespoons of grated parmesan cheese and a sprinkling of chilli flakes.
