The team at Brio Retirement Living’s Button House development in Hackbridge is busy welcoming donations from the local community, as staff and homeowners volunteer their time to collect items for the annual charity reverse advent calendar.

Now in its fourth year, the initiative is being supported by donations from Brio Retirement Living, Button House team members, homeowners living within the vibrant development and much-needed contributions from residents and businesses in Hackbridge, Sutton and beyond.

The reverse advent calendar will once again support local charity Sutton Night Watch. The cause offers support to and raises awareness of people who are homeless within the borough, ensuring that no homeless person goes to sleep on an empty stomach.

Last year’s efforts raised a huge number of donations which were collected by the team at Button House’s reception desk. Once again, the team are ready to collect much-needed items right up to the cut-off date of Friday 12th December, after which the donations will be handed over to Sutton Night Watch.

Karl Mlynarczyk, General Manager at Button House, explained: “The reverse advent calendar is one of our much-loved traditions here at Button House, and the support we receive from homeowners, businesses and local people in the area is truly heartwarming. We’re all hoping to smash last year’s efforts and gather a huge amount of donations for the charity.

“We work so hard to give back, finding things that the Sutton Night Watch really need – items such as tinned fruit to shower gel and even selection box treats. The local community has been amazing so far, bringing such items in, and we and the Sutton Night Watch welcome anything that anyone can spare from their shopping list as we strive to help at this time of year.”

The team at Button House will finalise their collection of donations on Friday 12th December. All items will be delivered to the Sutton Night Watch, where the charity will then distribute the goods to those in dire need this Christmastime.

Karl concludes: “We’re calling out for support from our local community, and we are kindly asking for any donations of non-perishable food items and toiletries. Items can be handed in to our reception at Button House, 6 Spinning Wheel Way, Hackbridge. We’re welcoming donations that are either handed in daily or collectively by the cut-off date. Every item helps and all donations are truly appreciated, thank you.”
