Celebrities and Their Houseplants: the Most Plantastic Pics on Instagram

FYTA, the new app for home gardening, has created a list of their favourite Instagram plant posts from celebrities. The team reviewed thousands of Instagram posts from 2021 and selected 15 of the most famous plants on the social media channel. FYTA also branched out to the celebrities, offering some hints and tips on how best to look after their potted pals.

The research by FYTA shows houseplants are trending at the moment, with many actors, politicians and influencers proudly posing with their green companions. As well as pointing to examples of where plants upstaged celebrities, the plant experts at FYTA have also offered their advice to celebrities on how to best care for them, ranging from how often to water them, to the best placement in the star’s home for optimal growth.

Kim Kardashian

Social media pro Kim shows off her outfit in front of a lush green palm tree background. With so much light, air, humidity and hotness, Kim’s palm trees will definitely become a real home jungle for her next shoot. But the Archontophoenix cunninghamiana also likes to grow high, so FYTA warns not to let this fast-growing palm grow out of control.

Ellie Goulding

English singer songwriter Ellie poses with a Kentia palm plant but FYTA is concerned

about whether the green photo bomber is getting enough sunlight in that dark hallway! The sunlight-loving palm desperately needs to be moved to a spot with some more light, otherwise it won’t be looking so green for much longer.

Serena Williams

American tennis superstar Serena shares her frame with a Dypsis lutescens. FYTA says a strong plant goes with a strong woman – and this Areca palm is tough and full of power. During its dormant phase between November and March, it’ll only need a little water. From March, it’ll need more watering.

James McAvoy

The X-Men star’s Monstera deliciosa plant is in the perfect spot according to FYTA. For extra strength, James could put the aerial roots into a container of water so it can absorb nutrients even better.

Victoria Beckham

Former Spice Girl turned fashion designer posted a photo with her Kentia palms, which can live up to 40 years and are very easy to care for. FYTA’s tip if you also want to work under these palm trees? Feed it weekly in the summer with liquid fertilizer.
