Combine Space and Elegance at Archers Mews in the Surrey Hills

Martin Grant Homes has unveiled its long-awaited show home at its premium Archers Mews development in Oxshott this week. After launching off-plan late last year, buyers will now be able to view the new homes in their entirety and experience first-hand the lifestyle on offer.

Archers Mews is home to a collection of four beautifully finished four-bedroom townhouses inspired by local early Georgian architecture. Set in a private, gated enclave, the development offers a desirable combination of privacy and tranquillity – echoing the exclusivity of the wider Oxshott area, including the star-studded Crown Estate.

The show home offers a bespoke classic contemporary scheme by Andrew Henry Interiors, and aims to inspire customers to visualise themselves making a home in this much sought-after part of the Surrey Hills.

“A considerable amount of thought and attention to detail has gone into the layout and specification of the homes by Martin Grant,” says Andrew Henry. “To complete the look, I have used a classic contemporary scheme with softer country influences, making use of predominantly neutral tones along with some accents of slate blue and rust.”

The properties benefit from a spacious open-plan family room, with bi-fold doors opening out to a patio and turfed rear garden, alongside a more formal living room at the front. “For the lounge we added an elegant focal point to the room by creating a bespoke wooden media unit, painted to match the skirtings,” says Andrew. “As well as holding a 50-inch plasma TV it has shelving for books and objet d’art, plus practical storage cupboards beneath.” The result is so successful that it will be made available as an extra for buyers of the other homes – along with other elements of the show home such as window treatments and soft furnishings.

One of the most striking aspects of the homes at Archers Mews is the extensive first floor terrace, offering more than 20 square metres of alfresco living. Leading from the master bedroom, which also benefits from an ensuite bath and shower room and a walk-in dressing room, the balcony offers ample space for sun loungers or outdoor dining furniture. Best of all, as the properties back on to unspoilt woodland, the terrace is not overlooked. “It provides a generous relaxation space at an elevated level,” explains Andrew.

The neutral palette and subtle styling of the homes reflects the fact that rooms could be used in different ways – the second floor has two light and airy rooms and a shower room, making them suitable for use as children’s bedrooms or as home office, gym or hobby rooms, depending on the buyer. The first floor also has a second, spacious bedroom with en suite bath and shower which would make the perfect guest suite or a generous study-bedroom for an older teenager. There’s also a convenient first floor laundry room. “Now the rooms are dressed they have come to life, and the amount of space that’s available has become apparent,” says Andrew.

Like the décor, the design and finishes of Archers Mews comfortably blend classic and contemporary. The outside styling of the homes reflects the look of the early Georgian homes nearby, while inside, features such as the frameless glass balustrade to the terrace and the modern handleless kitchen with Silestone worktops and integrated appliances makes it clear that these are contemporary, high-specification properties. From the comfort of the underfloor heating on the first and second floors to the superfast broadband, automatic entrance gates and 32-amp car charging point, nothing has been overlooked.

Chris Hamilton, Managing Director for Martin Grant Homes, comments: “Oxshott is a popular area thanks to its easy commute, excellent local facilities and good schools – but good-sized family homes at a sensible price are a rarity in this location. Local residents have easy access to the beautiful Surrey Hills for walking and cycling, alongside the green open spaces of Epsom Common within walking distance, with the convenience of being able to hop on a train to from Oxshott station and be at London Waterloo in half an hour, or on the M25 in under 5 minutes.”

Oxshott has its own sports club and community centre, two gastropubs, a couple of convenience stores and a church. The village school, the Royal Kent, is rated as Good by Ofsted, and there are several local independent schools to choose from. For more shopping facilities, Esher, Weybridge and Kingston Upon Thames are close at hand, with bustling high streets and independent restaurants. In addition, there’s a Waitrose supermarket just 10 minutes’ drive away for everyday needs.

As well as having the train station a five-minute drive away, motorists will also appreciate that each of the homes at Archers Mews have three parking spaces each. The M25 is three minutes away by road, offering straightforward links to Gatwick and Heathrow airports.
