CrimeCon UK, the ultimate true crime event partnered by CBS Reality – the #1 factual entertainment channel in the UK amongst women 16+* – is back in central London from the 10th – 11th June and is set to present a leading lineup.
Bringing together experts from across the globe CrimeCon UK has interactive sessions with law enforcement representatives including top level documentary makers, investigative journalists, leading podcasters, and criminologists. Of course, CrimeCon UK also focuses on supporting and giving a voice to victims’ families and survivors.
This year sees the return of world renowned, retired US Detective Paul Holes, who worked on what is now known as “The Golden State Killer” case, which brought Joseph DeAngelo to justice. His session entitled, In the shadows of MT Diablo will look at the case of killer Phil Hughes, who was convicted of killing of three women in the 1970’s, Paul will also be posing the question, was he also responsible for many other unsolved murders?
Also joining the expert line-up is news reporter Fred Harrison who will present a session on his remarkable meeting of Moors Murderer, Ian Brady in his cell in 1984. Renowned crime author Lynda La Plante will be hosting a live recording of her podcast, Listening to the Dead, where she is joined by forensic podiatrist Hayden Kelly. CBS Reality will be hosting multiple sessions over the weekend, including a discussion of how crucial pieces of killer evidence can guide murder investigations with documentary filmmaker and criminologist Donal MacIntyre – as seen on CBS Reality’s new series Donal MacIntyre’s Killer Evidence.
In partnership with Woodcut Media, CrimeCon will also welcome Louise Hulland (Broadcaster and Journalist), David Crinnion (Former Detective Constable) and John Lucas (Journalist and Author) who will be hosting a session exploring the ‘confessions of a psycho killer’ – getting inside the mind of Patrick Mackay, the UK’s longest serving prisoner who is often referred to as ‘Britain’s forgotten serial killer’. Other speakers include Colin Sutton, Nazir Azfal, and Kerry Daynes.
Nancy Baughen, CrimeCon Event Director, said: “As ever, our focus is ensuring sympathetic and empathetic approach to all our content, with a focus on supporting and helping the victims of crime and their families.”
She continued: “Our attendees are genuinely caring fans of justice, and this is why they return to us year on year. We now have a reputation as a the must attend event in the UK for the true crime community.”
Attendees will be invited to join criminologists to get inside the minds of serial-killers, to shine a light on their victims and to work alongside forensic experts to examine evidence, really immersing themselves in the true crime world. With more than 70 hours of wide ranging, compelling and immersive content for attendees to explore including interactive experiences, it truly makes CrimeCon the ultimate true crime event.
