DO YOU KNOW WHAT’S IN YOUR HAND SANITISER?

In the light of the Which Report released today (4 December) testing alcohol hand sanitisers, make sure you know what’s in the hand sanitiser you’re using! Alcohol sanitisers are not all equal, as the report highlights, and similarly, alcohol-free sanitisers need to be scientifically proven to work. Steril-eeze is a hypochlorous alcohol-free hand sanitiser and is the benchmark for hypochlorous sanitisers. It holds the BS EN 1500 test1 which means it is as effective as a 60% alcohol based sanitiser, and it contains 300 ppm hypochlorous – the recommended concentration for maximum effectiveness.

Says Dr Sarah Jarvis, Medical Advisor to Steril-eeze, “Hand hygiene is so important. Always have a hand sanitiser with you for when you’re out and about and can’t access soap and water or if you need to sanitise a door handle or surface. Hand sanitisers that contain at least 60% alcohol are highly effective. However, if you find your skin is irritated and dry as a result of these, hand sanitiser containing 300PPM (parts per million) hypochlorous acid can offer an effective alternative which is kinder to skin.”

Steril-eeze is not only scientifically proven to kill 99.99% of viruses and bacteria, but as it doesn’t contain any alcohol, it is very kind to hands, great for children, and is particularly suitable for people with sensitive skin that is easily irritated. You can also use it on surfaces so it’s a great multi-tasking sanitiser.

In fact hypochlorous acid (HOCI) has been successfully surface tested to be effective against coronavirus in independent laboratories, both in the UK2 and the US, and is currently being used in South Korea to help control the spread of the virus.

Professor Val Edwards-Jones, microbiology expert and consultant to Steril-eeze says, “Medical professionals have been using hypochlorous acid for many years to kill bacteria and viruses, both in wound care and general hygiene. It’s great that people can now buy Steril-eeze for their personal use and take advantage of the many benefits it offers.”

Spray 4 – 6 times onto dry hands, rub together ensuring all areas of the hands have been covered, and let skin dry naturally. Steril-eeze is quick drying, non-sticky, and is available in 3 different sizes:
