Four Journeo employees are taking part in the Three Peaks Challenge By Rail in the hope of raising thousands of pounds for Railway Children
On the 25th June 2026, four employees of transport technology and infrastructure company Journeo, based in Ashby-de-le-Zouch, will set off on their mission to climb the highest mountains in England, Scotland, and Wales in just 48 hours. They are raising funds for Railway Children, a charity supporting vulnerable children found on transport networks across the UK, India, and Tanzania.
The challenge incorporates Britain’s famed Three Peaks – Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis – and is estimated to equal three half-marathons on rough, uneven terrain, with thousands of metres of climbing. But the Three Peaks Challenge by Rail has a twist, as all participants travel together between the mountains on a chartered train service.
Richard Webb, Group Sales Director at Journeo, is one of those taking part. He said: “As a company whose mission is to make public transport journeys more comfortable and safer for everyone, the Three Peaks Challenge By Rail resonates particularly strongly with us. Railway Children’s work is vital in protecting vulnerable young people across the transport network, and our industry must play a role in supporting that. By raising awareness and money for their cause, we can help them make the transport network safer, and learn more about how we can make a positive difference.”
Starting at Crewe Station, the specially designated train will take participants to Snowdon, where they will climb the first of the three mountains. After summiting the 1,085m peak, they’ll travel to Ravenglass to climb Scafell Pike. From Ravenglass, the train will take them to Fort William for their third and final climb – the UK’s tallest mountain, Ben Nevis.
The Journeo team hopes to raise at least £4,000 in online donations for Railway Children, which works with local governments, transport companies and communities to make transport networks safer for young people, drive policy change around child protection systems, and strengthen community responses to protect young people at risk.
Jack Miller, Group Director of Fundraising & Marketing at Railway Children, said: “The Three Peaks Challenge By Rail has been one of our flagship fundraising events for more than 20 years. Its success is driven by the continued support of participants from organisations like Journeo, whose involvement helps us raise vital funds for vulnerable young people in need of our help. We’re looking forward to another successful event in 2026, as part of our wider programme of fundraising events and initiatives.”
