Michael Head announces UK & Ireland Tour following the runaway success of Dear Scott

Having picked up the first top ten album of his storied 40-year career as a solo artist and figurehead of The Pale Fountains, The Strands and Shack, Michael Head and The Red Elastic Band announce celebratory, year-closing tour dates through the UK & Ireland to go on general sale on Fri 29 July 2022 at 10am. The run of seven appearances concludes with a night of inevitable high emotion in his home city, taking in Liverpool’s Invisible Wind Factory.

Universally praised for his latest, Bill Ryder-Jones-produced, career-high album, Dear Scott, the album reached Number 6 on the UK’s Official Album Chart, standing as one of his most commercially, as well as critically-successful to date. Dear Scott, only Head and The Red Elastic Band’s second album, succeeding 2017’s Adios Señor Pussycat, gained its name in reference to F. Scott Fitzgerald and the golden age of Hollywood’s opium and alcohol-addicted storytellers.

Concluding their first full UK Tour as a band in spring to celebrate the release of Dear Scott, taking in their biggest venues to date including London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire and Liverpool’s ornate Eventim Olympia, Head and the band return to the road this November and December in a victory lap to conclude a triumphant year. The full run of Michael Head & The Red Elastic Band Winter 2022 Tour dates are as follows:

Tue 29 Nov – Belfast, Black Box
Wed 30 Nov – Dublin, Whelans
Tue 6 Dec – Edinburgh, Voodoo Rooms Ballroom
Tue 13 Dec – Sheffield, Crookes Social Club
Wed 14 Dec – Wolverhampton, Newhampton Arts Centre
Thu 15 Dec – Sunderland, POP RECS

Tickets for all shows go on sale Fri 29 July 2022 at 10am via ticket links available at www.michaelheadofficial.com

The release of Dear Scott came almost forty years to the day since Head’s first appearance on record, having released The Pale Fountains’ (There’s Always) Something On My Mind in June 1982 on the Belgium-based, Factory-Benelux-associated Les Disques du Crépuscule label.

Across those four-decades Head released a string of other classic (and ‘lost classic’) albums, crossing and occasionally stumbling on the rocky terrain of lost master tapes, unfortunate timing and personal misadventure. Fronting Shack and releasing albums like HMS Fable and Waterpistol, alongside a single album as The Strands, Head has gathered admirers amongst musical peers not limited to Liam and Noel Gallagher, George Michael and Coldplay.

Live dates earlier in the year included fan-favourite songs from across that eventful career, with the year-ending appearances likely to offer the same match-up of cherished old and equally loved, modern classics.

The Red Elastic Band is made up of Phil Murphy on drums, Tom Powell on bass, Danny Murphy on guitars and Nathaniel Cummings on guitars and backing vocals.
