New Football Documentary ‘In The Middle’ on the World Of Football Referees Launches During World Cup

Today Park the Bus and Tull Stories are thrilled to announce that their new documentary In The Middle on the world of football referees, directed and produced by Greg Cruttwell (The Football Monologues, Chunky Monkey), will be released in UK cinemas from 31st March 2023. The film won the Best Screenplay Award at the 2022 Paladino d’Oro Sports Film Festival in Palermo.

Told from the centre of the playing field, In The Middle follows a diverse group of match officials as they attempt to cope with the rigours of running matches in grassroots football. Experienced or new to it, young or old, male, female or non-binary, these unsung heroes tell us about their passion for the game, about their lives outside of it and why they’re drawn to the often-thankless task of refereeing.

Director/Producer Greg Cruttwell said: “Park the Bus are delighted to be releasing our new documentary, “In The Middle”, which follows an eclectic group of grassroots football match officials over the course of the Covid curtailed 2019-20 season. The documentary, a passion project for me, aims to give an insight into what it’s like to try and uphold the law, in the middle, the loneliest of places, as the man or woman that everyone loves to hate.”

IN THE MIDDLE is in cinemas from 31st March 2023 www.inthemiddlefilm.co.uk
