New Italian deli and wine shop to bring authentic taste of Italy to Worcester
A new independent Italian deli and wine shop is set to open in the heart of Worcester, offering a carefully curated selection of artisan produce, specialist wines, and a truly personal approach to hospitality.
Rizzo Deli & Wine Club, opening soon at 3 King Street, is the latest venture from Gianluca Austin-Rizzo, a respected figure in Worcester’s hospitality scene with nearly 30 years of experience in fine dining, wine, and restaurant management.
The deli will showcase a handpicked range of Italian wines, alongside artisan ingredients sourced directly from trusted producers across Italy. Customers can also expect seasonal hampers and tailored recommendations designed to elevate everyday meals as well as special occasions.
Gianluca, who currently manages Benedictos Italian Restaurant, says the concept is about more than just retail:
“This is not just a shop; it’s an experience. I want people to come in, talk about what they’re cooking or planning, and leave inspired—with the right wine, the right ingredients, and the confidence to create something special at home.”
Before establishing his career in Worcester, Gianluca trained at the renowned Waterside Inn under the guidance of Michel Roux, Alain Roux, and Diego Masciaga—one of Britain’s most celebrated fine dining institutions. He later spent over five years as General Manager at Simpsons Restaurant, further building his reputation within the industry.
Locally, he has also developed a loyal following through the Rizzo Wine Club, which now counts over 700 members and regularly hosts sold-out wine dinners across Worcester and the UK.
Alongside the deli, Gianluca will continue his role at Benedictos while supporting wider hospitality projects in the city, with further developments already in the pipeline.
The new venture is also expected to create new jobs as it grows, contributing to Worcester’s thriving independent food and drink scene.
“Worcester has given me so much over the years. This is my way of giving something back—creating a space that is authentic, welcoming, and built around quality, experience, and community.”
Rizzo Deli & Wine Club is set to open soon, bringing a fresh and distinctive addition to Worcester city centre.
