NEW TRAINING STATION AIMS TO STOP RESOLUTION DROP-OFF AS HALF OF GEN Zs GIVE UP FIRST
Brits may start the New Year full of good intentions, but many don’t last the month. New research reveals that while almost one in three people (30%) pledge to learn a new skill in January, nearly a third (29%) will give it up before the month is out.
Gen Z are the quickest to quit, with more than half (57%) setting skills-based resolutions – only to drop them faster than any other age group. 50% of Gen Z will quit their resolutions in January versus Millennials (35%), Gen X (22%) and Boomers (18%).
So why are we throwing in the towel? Nearly half of people (49%) blame a lack of motivation, while others say they simply don’t have the time (34%), change their mind (29%), can’t afford it (26%), or realise their goals were unrealistic (24%).
With a quarter of Brits (25%) saying they take inspiration from relatable role models – rising to more than half (54%) of Gen Z – Trainline is stepping in to help beat the January blues. This Quitter’s Day (Friday 9 January), Trainline will launch The way to train station – a one-day pop-up at London’s King’s Cross packed with famous faces ready to whip resolutions back into shape, because when it comes to New Year goals, quitting early doesn’t have to be the final stop.
Commuters can grab cooking tips from celebrity chef Tom Kerridge, learn dance moves with TV favourite Curtis Pritchard, find sporting inspiration from England Red Roses star Tatyana Heard, and get moving with high-energy workouts led by fitness icon Mr Motivator.

A few quick bursts can lift your mood, boost your motivation and set you up for the day.
