Brighton’s five-piece Canned Pineapple have announced a new initiative partnering with local food banks across the country and inviting fans to bring food donations to their shows.

Kicking off on 4 November in Sheffield, the campaign will see Canned Pineapple team up with food banks in cities across their UK tour, collecting essential canned goods from gig-goers to help support people experiencing food insecurity in their local communities. And, despite what their name might suggest, donations of canned pineapple are not suggested! Fans are encouraged to bring any suitable food items that can make a difference to those in need. Full details and regulations below.

With food banks continuing to play a vital role in supporting individuals and families across the UK, the band are using the power of their live shows to encourage fans to give back, bringing a little community spirit to venues up and down the country.
Speaking of this, Canned Pineapple say:

“We are all extremely privileged to be able to tour and play music and it means a lot to us that anyone comes to show support for the band. It’s important to us that we give back to these local communities and to the people we’ve met on the road. With winter around the corner and the current cost of living crisis, helping and donating to those in need is vital and we’d like to encourage as many people who come to a show (and those who don’t!) to donate what they can.”

Each participating venue will serve as a collection point for donations, with all contributions going to the local food bank partnered with that show. Fans attending the tour are encouraged to bring along a can or two when they come down, helping turn a night of live music into something that can have a positive impact beyond the venue doors.

The initiative adds another dimension to Canned Pineapple’s forthcoming tour, which sees the band bring their scrappy, hook-heavy sound to venues across the UK. Formed in Brighton in 2021, the five-piece have quickly established themselves as a vital name in the UK underground indie-rock scene, winning over tastemakers with their feral garage-punk energy, fuzzed-out guitars and infectious pop sensibilities.
Brighton scuzz-pop risers Canned Pineapple have fast become a vital name in the UK’s underground indie-rock scene since forming in 2021. Their hook-heavy blend of feral 1960s garage punk has already earned them widespread tastemaker acclaim, securing heavy press and radio support from the likes of BBC 6music, Radio X, and Clash Magazine. Recently announced as the latest signing to Missing Piece Records (the US label home to Pigsx7, Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard and more) the band recently released their latest single, ‘Done With Everything’, on the label.

Now, as they head out on the road, Canned Pineapple are asking fans to bring that same energy to something that matters beyond the music.
