Dandara supports Walk to School month

Local housebuilder Dandara, who’s currently building its Wingfield Place development on Freeman’s Way, is celebrating International Walk to School month this October with Kingsdown and Ringwould CofE Primary School. The housebuilder has donated 32 high-visibility vests to Year 6 pupils at the school to ensure pupils can be seen clearly by road users when walking to school, particularly in the darker winter months.

With one in four cars on the road during the school run being responsible for generating half a million tonnes of CO2 per year, International Walk to School month aims to encourage families to leave the car behind in the month of October to reduce congestion and pollution*.

Jo Hygate, Headteacher at Kingsdown and Ringwould CofE Primary School, commented: “When Dandara approached us about the Walk to School month campaign, we jumped at the chance to take part. Walking to school is not only good for the pupil’s wellbeing but is much better for the planet and air pollution in Deal. We hope that the children enjoy taking part in this campaign and that it will encourage their parents to walk with them rather than taking the car.”

Louise Norman, Sales and Marketing Director for Dandara South East, commented: “The International Walk to School campaign is not only a great way to encourage an active lifestyle but also highlights the importance of reducing car use and using more sustainable travel methods whenever possible.”
“It was great to join forces with Kingsdown and Ringwould CofE Primary School and we hope that the children enjoy the walks to and from school with their friends or family, whilst remaining safe in their high visibility vests.”

Dandara is currently building its new homes at Wingfield Place in Deal, 2.3 miles from Kingsdown and Ringwould CofE Primary School, where a collection of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes will be available soon.
