New commercial tenants at Kidbrooke Village

Berkeley is pleased to announce that Drury 188-189, Kidbrooke Food Market and YOHOME Oriental Lifestyle will be joining its Kidbrooke Village community in the first half of 2023. The three businesses will be located in the Greenwich development’s well-established Pegler Square, providing a further boost to the local economy as well as creating over 35 jobs.

The grocery stores and café will sit alongside Starbucks and Sainsbury’s Local, as well as The Depot pub and the monthly food market which hosts a range of independent street food, drinks, and craft stalls.

Both Drury 188-189 and the Kidbrooke Food Market are part of the wider Drury Group and together will create more than 25 jobs when they launch in April 2023. Drury 188-189 will be an Australian-style brunch spot for meeting friends and family, offering everything from barista coffee and juices to waffles and cocktails. Meanwhile, Kidbrooke Food Market will sell high-quality organic groceries and produce.

Aiming to open in the second quarter of 2023, YOHOME Oriental Lifestyle is set to provide a variety of hot and cold food, including Japanese patisseries and Chinese-style fried chicken, which can either be eaten in or taken away. It will also cater for people’s daily needs, offering groceries, homeware items and beauty products from China, Japan and South Korea. This will add to the collection of YOHOME stores around London, and brings a completely new offering to Kidbrooke Village while creating a minimum of 10 new jobs.

Karl Whiteman, Divisional Managing Director for Berkeley East Thames, said: “These new businesses each bring something different, fresh and exciting to Kidbrooke Village. They’re great additions to the local community, benefitting the area with completely new products and giving Kidbrooke a major economic boost. I’m delighted to have them on board and I’m sure they’ll be a great success.”

Cemal Polat from Drury Group said: “We were really excited when the opportunity to open a third unit in Kidbrooke Village came about. Being East London locals, we’re extremely supportive of the development and everything it brings, from economic development and new living spaces to safety and convenient transport links. The community created in the area is amazing and we want our café and market to really capture and embed that vibe.”

Grace Xin from YOHOME Oriental Lifestyle said: “From April 2023, we’ll be bringing a new and exciting consumer shopping experience to the area with our modern lifestyle store concept. We are looking forward to joining Kidbrooke Village and making it an even better community to live in and be a part of.”

To date over 2,300 homes have been delivered (both affordable and private) at Kidbrooke Village, alongside an award-winning park, village centre and public squares. The development is already an established community with commercial tenants such as Sainsbury’s Local, Young’s pub; The Depot, Puregym, Starbucks, estate agents and more commercial space is to be made available for prospective businesses.

Kidbrooke Village has already created 7,500 new jobs including 133 apprentices working in partnership with Greenwich Local Labour and Business (GLLaB), the Royal Borough of Greenwich’s employment initiative, and over 300 permanent jobs.
