Luxury North East housebuilder Cameron Hall Homes has been granted planning permission to deliver a further 135 new homes at Stoney Wood, its flagship development on the Wynyard Estate. Construction of the second phase is expected to begin in August 2027, with the new three, four and five-bedroom homes due to launch to the market in autumn 2027.

The second phase will comprise 135 plots in total, 81 of which will be marketed and sold by Cameron Hall Homes. The remaining 54 plots have been sold to Banks Homes, another leading regional housebuilder. The agreement builds on the long-standing relationship between the founders of the two businesses, Harry Banks, founder of the Banks Group, and Sir John Hall, founder of Cameron Hall Developments.

The partnership at Stoney Wood reflects that shared history and comes during a landmark year for both businesses, with Banks Group and Cameron Hall Developments each celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2026. It also celebrates both companies’ continued contribution to delivering high-quality family housing across the North East.

Commenting on the agreement with Banks Homes, Mark Antonopoulos, Managing Director at Cameron Hall Developments, said: “We are delighted that Banks Homes has secured a deal to acquire 54 units from Cameron Hall Developments at Stoney Wood. It is a strong endorsement of the location, the quality of the wider masterplan and the continued demand for high-quality family housing on the Wynyard Estate.”

“Banks Homes is a respected regional housebuilder with deep roots in the North East, and we are pleased to be working alongside them on the next stage of this important development.”

As with the first 76 homes at Stoney Wood, which are now 45% sold, the second phase will be designed to an exceptionally high specification, with a strong focus on energy efficiency. Each home is expected to achieve an EPC A rating and will be gas-free, requiring minimal energy for heating, lighting and hot water.

Stoney Wood is also one of the first developments in the North East to be built in line with Part L 2025 standards, supporting the conservation of fuel and power and helping to deliver homes that are more sustainable and cost-efficient to run.

Mark continues: “We are pleased to be continuing the Stoney Wood story, with the second phase of homes now approved. Since launching our first collection of homes in 2024, Cameron Hall Homes has continued to go from strength to strength, and we are proud to be recognised as one of the North East’s most distinguished family-owned housebuilders.

“The homes in this next phase will be spacious, sustainable and attractive, designed with a clear focus on community, quality and long-term value. We are looking forward to construction beginning in 2027 and are excited to see Stoney Wood continue to grow.”

For buyers interested in Stoney Wood ahead of the second phase launch, Cameron Hall Homes is preparing to open a newly refurbished show home this April. The Yeavering Plus is a four-bedroom detached home with an orangery, double detached garage and private driveway. A spacious open-plan kitchen, dining and family area spans the rear of the ground floor, with bi-fold doors opening onto a patio and turfed private garden. The orangery, complete with a glass lantern roof, creates a bright and elegant space that connects seamlessly with the garden, ideal for entertaining and family life.

The ground floor also includes a welcoming living room, snug and utility room, while upstairs there are four generous double bedrooms, offering flexible space for modern family living.

Residents at Stoney Wood will also benefit from a new community hub, set to open later this year. The hub will include a café, veterinary surgery, medical practice, a selection of independent artisan shops and a village hall for local classes, events and community groups. It will also feature dedicated parking, electric vehicle charging points and a bistro-style terrace overlooking the surrounding landscape.

Set within picturesque countryside, Stoney Wood offers access to the best of the Wynyard Estate and the surrounding village. Local amenities include cafés, restaurants and The Glasshouse, which is around a 25-minute walk from the development. Wynyard Golf Club is also close by, while Wynyard Hall Spa, which is currently closed ahead of a planned multi-million-pound renovation, is approximately a 35-minute walk from home.

Despite its countryside setting, Stoney Wood is well connected. Middlesbrough and Stockton-on-Tees can both be reached by road in under 15 minutes, while Newcastle city centre is around 50 minutes away.
